The aurora over central Europe in May. I had only one chance to see the dumb comet because the sky was clouded all the time and cleared up only for a single day when it was almost gone in late October :(
the may aurora as seen from our backyard, viewing direction to the east: a purple sky with pink highlights, to green-yellow-ish on the bottom left. at the bottom of the image are the dark outlines several houses and trees visible. the may aurora from the same spot as before, but the view is now to the west, the left half of the sky is dark red with brighter red highlights, the right half is purple with pink highlights and orange-yellow-ish to the bottom. the outlines of some trees and houses are visible at the bottom of the image a wide angle shot of my town and (mostly) the sky above - in the middle upper half, the comet Tsuchinshan–ATLAS is faintly visible a close-up of the comet at ~400mm focal length - unfortunately the earth spins and therefore the picture is slightly blurry
