We have e bikes and my child rode one to school in high school so I am aware of the risks and benefits. Big fan of them for adults and commuting, just not for 12 year olds. Interesting to hear the opposing view, though.

I said up to 30, but even if they are required to go slower than that I just fundamentally disagree that e bikes are safe for kids under 15. And cars hit kids on e bikes too.

? 16 year olds can drive so we should let 12 year olds operate e bikes that can go up to 30 mph? Have you ever driven by a Bend MS or HS and seen what masses of kids on (illegal, btw) e bikes looks like? It’s not reassuring. Why are you in favor of this?

The bill legalizes 12 year olds on e bikes? That’s a terrible idea. Have you seen young teens on e bikes? Their favorite mode (at least in Bend) is 3 on an e bike with no helmets. If anything the age limit should be higher.
