Happy gotcha day to this big fella Finnigan the wolfhound. 2 years ago we rescued each other. After spending 3 of his first 9 months in the pound he was skinny, scared and timid. Now he has his own sofa, a full belly, goes for lots of walks and plays with his best bud Louis. Life’s pretty good.

If you’re a LeCarre fan you’ll love this. Written by his son You just know he grew up with Smiley et al from the way he writes. It is set in the years between ‘The spy who came in from the cold’ and ‘Tinker Tailor’. Only downside is because I’d read tinker I had a jaundiced view of some characters.

The best thing about having Stage 4 cancer is that I no longer find it necessary to be nice to assholes and idiots and I say whatever I’m thinking. Ironically it is also the worst thing.
