I guess Utah has finally just given up on saving Great Salt Lake. This week the state leg will vote to let 40 percent of it just dry up permanently. Goodbye migratory birds :(

I feel like these Wall Street Masters of the Universe are like the CIA agents who missed the collapse of the Soviet Union. Like, were they just sleepwalking through the "inject bleach" press conference? Why should anyone trust these guys with their money?

I've been reading Jennifer Ackerman's What an Owl Knows. And then over the weekend I made a quick visit to SLC's Tracy Aviary, the nation's oldest aviary, and found this Eurasian Eagle Owl. I have no idea how it ended up here or if that's even a good idea, but it was cool to see one up close.
