Sure, 100%. You may have said it before but feel like Michael Bay was an early user of egregious artificial orange/blue.

I don’t disagree with your overall theme of Kubrick>Refn, or the over use of orange/blue in general, but that color palette is one of of the first things I think of in EWS. The outside world blues against the warm interior light in the bedroom scene are intensely blue.

First time I saw him was at a bar in Mpls, 2001ish, he was just a random dude talking to some people about Chicago parking & turned out to be the opener for the show I was there to see. it nearly wrecked me. Later a friend put Captain Badass on a mix cd and that was it. I wept at work when he died.
