Then there's the lack of stages available. Yes there's more characters (with many obvious exclusions), but I don't understand why so many stages and features available in the older games have been omitted

The character customisation is abysmal. I'm talking alternative costumes and clothing. There are so many empty slots available for accessories and yet barely any available total. Like this kind of stuff should have been released say one, not adding an extra one here or there after paying for dlc
