These unrequested extra bells and whistles that keeps putting the price and size of them up makes me think we're fast approaching a line in the sand where dumbphones become more appealing again.

I fear small phones aren't coming back unless I go back to a dumb phone which seems more and more tempting as smart phones get larger and more expensive. Lets see what's out there when my last small iPhone stops getting software updates.

I have a Pixel 8a running GrapheneOS that I’m quite impressed with but I want something smaller. iPhone 4 / 5 / mini were optimum size in my eyes.

I assume it's not a priority for them anymore and putting developer time elsewhere like AI or other new shiny? Shame as it was that level of effort on the details that made their products more enjoyable to use.

They draw borders differently and use different names depending on the users location. Maybe they can just rename it for the White House users?

Just curious to see what models of phone were used or if the flash was on to see why photos came out better than others. Glad to hear you're stripping exif data off. I'll try and have a play around with that input tag.

Hopefully you can share more if you progress with it further. Quick odd question, does the method to access the camera expose metadata like device details and exposure / focal information?
