that makes perfect sense, it's hard getting into 2 animal crossings at once. Particularly if what you like about one isn't on the other.
Like, wild world is a clear improvement from Population Growing, but I love the way towns are built in PG, so I can't get into WW and PG at the same time.

I think that whole thing has more to do with people who where REALLY into new leaf, I played about 1200 hours of new leaf and it's my favorite in the franchise, but then I also played 900 hours of New Horizons and it's my least favorite.
It's probably just the change in direction from prior games.
