Logistics and defence industry background, often found messing about in boats.

Picked an interesting time to do a masters in international relations. The Petri dish is flourishing; I just wish we didn't all have to live in it.
Fun LotR fact: that'll be problematic since most of the Riders of Rohan were women with excellent fake beards.

Volley fire is the way to win battles and anything else is dangerously revolutionary.

Also, just over 100 years since a British pilot in a British-designed aircraft made the first landing on Japan's first aircraft carrier. Funny old world...

Stormé De Larverie, Marsha P. Johnson, Zazu Nova. Don't try to write them out of history.

If this is the photo you mean, they're British soldiers in Kent and it was specifically a drag show. But I'm sure the same kind of thing happened all the time!

I agree, and can't help but think of the Roman woman reburied with ceremony and libations at the Gherkin in London. I'd like to think that archaeology is as much about respect for the lives and stories of our ancestors, as simple curiosity.

Not a criticism, but it's interesting how one of the ship's company receives a military funeral while others become museum exhibits.

Where does one draw the line? Napoleonic soldiers are buried with full honours, Egyptian mummies are exhibited, and it seems Tudor remains are somewhere in-between...

It's called a biplane rig, and the first time I saw one out on the water, I genuinely thought my binoculars were broken.

But no, the binos were fine, it was just the entire observable universe that was faulty

Were they even operating close to the front line?

India has ample standoff capability - and if this report is to be believed, at least one jet was downed almost 100km inside Indian airspace by a PL-15.

This is interesting. PL-15 debris reported (range around 150km) - how far inside Indian airspace were the IAF jets hit?
