I would give a lot to see whatever the original cut of Rogue One was before they brought in Gilroy even if I have no expectation that it would be “better”

Can someone link the article? I even searched the text and got nothing

The video makes it sound like most specifics are unknown, but I’d welcome any more detail you have on how Dracula X SNES came to be. It’s fascinating - feels like something meant to be more ambitious that was rushed? A stripped down 1:1 port with more colors would have been the logical choice.

I played a small part in the book coming to audio, and this article was most definitely a factor.

Even if democrats take what we could only charitably refer to as “power,” this nightmare absolutely isn’t over until there are massive trials and legal consequences.

Fingers crossed for the Dredd (or arguably the From Russia with Love) approach where rather than contorting to make a static character dynamic they instead frame him through a character capable of change.

Wouldn’t that be worse?

I’m waiting for a Pilkington renaissance.

Truly I don’t want my kids to watch the SW prequels because I’m not ready for the “this is wildly misogynist in ways the film has no ability or interest in addressing” talk. Give me wholesome queer content all day. That’s the easy stuff!

It’s almost the opposite problem. Kids are pretty quick to assimilate something as normal if it’s presented as such. That cuts both ways - if you DO see something ACTUALLY problematic (ie, not a loving queer relationship) you might need to call it out for them.

This is the reason I kinda want him back? ENT lacked the vocabulary (and spine) to say what it could have then. S4 had a lot of interest in regression, and the (actual) finale was a battle at home to keep the progress we’ve made out of the hands of racist goons. Archer knew he almost was one.

And the thing is: there are probably more underpaid, underemployed sci-fi writers than ever before, and who would very happily take a Trek gig if it meant working for a living. Some of the best Trek came from people who didn’t begin steeped in that world. We could have a bounty of weird riches.

Clumsy or not, for me an example of games using what’s native to the form to articulate ideas. Ethical choices are consistently the harder choices. Evil choices are easy, and there are many more opportunities to make them.

It is a game that is almost eager to tell you “no.”

Is there ANY other example of DK actually eating a banana in a video game?

Going to use “boats named after mistresses” in conversation and then feel a vague specter of guilt when I realize that wasn’t my line, then wonder if it’s too late to explain that without it getting weird.

I’m not sure this is sending the message you think it is.

Man, I know I don’t know you, but you almost certainly don’t deserve to talk about yourself this way.

He was very much the filmmaker’s filmmaker about it and assured the reporter that they were already in business with some of that same talent. It was quite a tightrope walk.

On “getting away with it,” do you think it’s time for electeds to openly call for rigorous prosecutions (and disbarrings) wherever the law applies?

He did go on record shortly after it happened to concur with the exec opinion that the movie wasn’t salvageable. It’s the same management now as then, so I’d be surprised if his tune changed. I’d also be surprised if he truly believed that in the first place.

The old games in their limitations did so much with what was just implied. I think, whether consciously or not, when the old heads complain about modern Pokemon, it’s more a loss of wonder than the Exp share.
