If only. I dream of an internet where I didn't have the worst people I know thrust in my face constantly no matter how I try to block them.
I wish the systems were smart enough to be like, "Hey this person who was very bad to you that you've blocked is still included in this post because they aren't tagged in it, do you want to trigger your fight or flight response?"

The 31st Halloween movie is "Hocus Pocus". What can I say, all time great. Happy to wrap up my month watching this on a plane.

Happy Halloween all! Do fun stuff! Eat candy!

The 30th Halloween movie is "Death of a Unicorn", a newly released horror comedy that's... a mixed bag.

There's some good stuff in here, but the on the nose "rich people bad" is just too obvious to be interesting satire. Anthony Carrigan is great though.

The 29th Halloween movie is "Talk to Me", an Australian horror with demon possession and some fantastic acting.

Strongly recommend this for horror fans but it's a really intense watch. This is like the opposite of cub Halloween.

The 28th Halloween movie is "A Vampire in Brooklyn", a 1998 horror comedy.

Not as bad as its reputation but also not super good; the humor feels pretty dated, but it's got personality and it's a fun movie when it's not making jokes about dicks falling off.

The 27th Halloween movie is "Urban Legend", a 1998 horror movie about a killer making urban myths come true.

Terrible. The college campus setting is wasted, the kills are improbable, at one point the protagonist is in the room while a murder takes place and is oblivious to it. Zero stars.

The 26th Halloween movie is "Scooby-Doo and the Gourmet Ghost" , a direct to video Scooby-Doo movie with Bobby Flay in it that was better than it had any right to be. Not top notch animation or anything but for a Scooby-Doo special this was an entertaining Halloween watch.

New reality TV show idea

The 25th Halloween movie is "The Faculty", a 1998 horror that mashes up The Thing and Invasion of the Body Snatchers while setting the whole thing in a high school.

Fucking awesome, what a great horror movie. Can't believe I waited so long to see it.

The 24th Halloween movie is "My Bloody Valentine", a 1981 horror movie about murders taking place on Valentine's Day in a mining town.

Glad to be able to check it off my list, fine but not amazing. Great setting, the story needs work. Reveal comes too late.

Also yeah all the screaming, boo.

I watch a lot of horror for my Halloween month, and none of the typical complaints bother me: the jumpscares, the cliches, the dumb character behavior, pointless gore.

I can get through all that.

The one thing that drives me absolutely nuts about horror movies: the screaming. It's unbearable.

The 23rd Halloween movie is "The Changeling", a 1980 horror film about tragedy and loss that manages to avoid so many of the cliches of that theme.

This was a great supernatural horror. It's slow, but beautiful cinematography and music really helped; also nice to see one set in Seattle.

The 22nd Halloween movie is "Sinners", and wow this was amazing. A vampire movie centered on a black community in Mississippi during the prohibition era. Fantastic original premise and the execution was amazing. Putting this in the same category as Weapons just in terms of completely loving it.

The 21st Halloween movie is "Cat People", a 1982 remake of a 1940's film.

This is about people who turn into panthers and kill, and uh wow I was really impressed for the most part. If there's a downside to this movie it's the incest talk. So much. Incest is a major plot point and boy it's weird.

The 20th Halloween movie is "The Wolf House", a 2018 stop motion animated movie, implied to be the work of a cult.

It's... well. How do you feel about visual art films without much story to them? Did you love that no talking episode of Bojack Horseman? You'll probably like this!

The 19th Halloween movie is "The Old Dark House", a 1932 horror comedy.

It suffers from some similar pacing problems as White Zombie but otherwise they're quite different for two movies that came out at the same time.

Pretty good with some laugh out loud moments, but very dated feeling.

The 18th Halloween movie is "White Zombie" , a 1932 horror classic, in which zombies are used as slave labor.

On the one hand, an all time classic that has influenced a ton of future films, and a great Bela Lugosi performance.

On the other hand, most of the other actors are bad and it's very slow

The 17th Halloween movie is "The City of the Dead", a 1960 horror about witches and witchcraft in New England.

This was a wonderful little classic horror movie, lots of dread and some real shock. Well done for the time it was made.

Also, all time great horror actor Christopher Lee.

The 16th Halloween movie is "Once Bitten", a 1985 vampire horror comedy starring very young Jim Carrey.

11/10. Winner. A vampire seeking a virgin in Los Angeles, with a lot of sex humor, and Cleavon Little (the black sheriff from Blazing Saddles) as a sassy gay vampire butler/manservant.

I am a little behind on my Halloween posting here... and watching... if I just do two posts a day I'll catch up by this weekend >.> I guess that is what I'll try to do!

The 15th Halloween movie is "Halloweentown", a Disney channel movie.

I remember disliking and wanted to give it another chance. It was better than I remembered! Thoroughly OK, cubby fun. I just hate the rushed ending and the amount of human skin visible through the monster masks.
October 19, 2025 at 5:07 PM
The 14th Halloween movie is "Gremlins".

It occurred to me that this movie could be a metaphor for how parents feel about their kids becoming teens: cute little guys start staying up after midnight and getting into trouble, suddenly they're not so cute anymore.

Don't grow up, kids! Stay smol.

frankly insane that 20-ish years ago some devs in japan said "how do we adapt mystery dungeon for pokemon," someone said "why don't we have the player be a pokemon," and as a direct result i now wear a collar and have about 5 online friends that identify as the mythical pokemon mew

The 13th Halloween movie is "Oddity", an Irish movie that actually makes golems seem scary.

For the most part I liked this! It was very scary but some of the visuals needed a little extra work I think. Unfortunately including the last shot in the movie.

Imperfect and for horror fans only but 8/10.
