Agreed! tomb raider 2 does that balance well. I believe we still don’t know why Marco and the cult want the dagger of Xian – there never appeared to be a real plan of what he’ll do after he stabs himself with it. He was just a dangerous loon who wants what Lara wants and that was enough tbh
