Okay! I still think it's pretty gross to post it in a public forum, and I think that while Singal should tweet less it's understandable to be angry about people wishing him dead, and I don't think (especially on this forum) that posting about it is inviting abuse

I mean, this is the same shit that groypers etc. do on Twitter - it maintains plausible deniability but there's an obvious double meaning, and it's condescending to pretend the implication isn't there

Say he's destructive or harmful, but wishing for him to die painfully is unpleasant discourse that only provokes more shittiness, as you're pointing out. Why excuse it?

If that's your assessment of him then I can understand why you would hate him. I think what I'm trying to say is that, even given that, wishing that he was dead or that someone would beat him to death with hammers or whatever, is pretty shitty to post online.

Why are they spending time wishing him dead after they've blocked him then? I agree that it's weird that he's going around their blocks, but also, again, pretty understandable given the fact that they want him dead. If people are blocking him then why are they spending time posting about him?

Writing can obviously have an impact on the world, and the best response is to argue with it. It sucks to be on a site where people openly want someone dead, and I think it's degrading to everyone involved to wish death on anyone

I don't think you should publicly wish death on essentially anyone! I think it's degrading to public discourse and ultimately counterproductive!

I guess I think that if you're on a social media site wishing death on another human, maybe you should just get off the Internet? You don't deserve to be harassed but I don't think you can complain if someone points out that it sucks

Fair enough, and I think I understand your argument better! From what I've seen, it doesn't seem like he's really explicitly directing anyone with his screenshots, so I don't know if I agree that he's aiming anyone. It also seems like mostly he's screenshotting kind of shitty behavior (death wishes)

I'm not like deeply familiar with his work but he seems to be behaving like a pretty standard journalist. Reposting your own work and then engaging in discussion on it is baseline journalist-on-the-internet behavior, even if you disagree with the topics or framing of his writing

It's great that moderation here works! I'm happy about that! But we were talking about the harassment that he apparently provokes, and I was pointing out that I've been harassed on here! I think it does matter that it happens even if moderation steps in, which is the point I thought you were making!
