Some games have ads as a way of earning the developer some revenue and some games act merely as a delivery device for as many ads as possible. Personally, I prefer games where the player can pay to disable ads. Developers deserve to be compensated for their work!

It's not like humans in ancient history had knowledge of weather all over the world. Severe weather causing massive, widespread flooding must have seemed truly global to them. Many cultures may have great flood stories because they all have experienced similar flooding a long time ago.
