I'm a Libertarian and free-market Capitalist, a loyal UofL & Bengals fan, I love movies, music, and books, and I have a penchant for sarcasm...but I'm mostly here for the books.
"I've enjoyed everything I've read by Jonathan Janz, but I'm putting this one amongst my favorites, including WOLF LAND, CHILDREN OF THE DARK I & II, & my absolute favorite, SAVAGE SPECIES!"

"The character work was, as usual, masterfully executed, & I found myself often frustrated & at times even angry with the main character, but that's part of what made the story so great!"

"This was yet another Jonathan Janz novel where I found myself turning the pages in breathless anticipation, & I'll admit there was more than one vocal exclamation on my part."

"This enthralling vampire-western (only in the horror genre!) starts with a bang, slows down for a bit to allow for some backstory & further character development, then throttles full force to the gruesome & quite emotional ending!"

My review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"It's now been several days since I finished this, & my reaction is still the same as it initially was: That...was...intense!"

"This was just an overall enjoyable read, & I'm of course looking forward to continuing the series with WOLVES OF THE CALLA: THE DARK TOWER V!"

"The secondary characters (Susannah, Eddie, Jake, and Oy) don't have as much to do in this one, but they still shine in their limited moments."

"As I noted, the story within a story within the story adds further insight into Roland Deschain, & whenever I get around to rereading THE GUNSLINGER: THE DARK TOWER I, I have a pretty good feeling I'll enjoy it much more than I did the first time."

"Being that this particular Constant Reader is extremely late to the game as far as this iconic series is concerned, I was able to read it in sequence, & I must say it fits in perfectly following WIZARD AND GLASS: THE DARK TOWER IV!"

My review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"I imagine many of those who read this did so years after finishing THE DARK TOWER: THE DARK TOWER VII, so for them it was likely a blissful reunion with familiar characters, a casual trip down memory lane with some added insight into a legendary character."

"My hat is off to Stephen King for being able to pick a winner from these six entries, & while I personally enjoyed "The Spots", "The Unpicking", & "The Bear Trap" just a tad more, all six were absolutely superb delicacies of short horror!"

Well hop to it then! We're not getting any younger over here! 😁

I most certainly did!

"With that being said, it all comes down to how the story ends...& this one, ends with a bang! Wow! Just...wow!"

"The characters seem real enough to touch, even the ones who only appear briefly."
December 29, 2025 at 2:44 AM
"The pacing slows down from time to time but gives the narrative a more natural, reality-based feel (see what I did there?), & the moral conflicts are deep & thought-provoking."

"STALE REALITY, by @urbancik.bsky.social, is an entirely unique concept & is masterfully executed from start to finish!"

"One of the many things I love about the horror genre is the creativity it inspires, or attracts, or perhaps a mixture of both, amongst the authors who dwell in such."
December 29, 2025 at 2:40 AM
"My only hope is that more readers are fortunate enough to experience these two phenomenal authors!"

"RIVERS OF MERCY, by @texascthulhu.bsky.social, was my first introduction to his writing, & it was one of the most emotionally devastating stories I've read...so much so that I sat in silence for several minutes after finishing it."

"First, EVERYBODY WANTS TO RULE THE WORLD, by @wesleysouthard.bsky.social, had me completely hooked within the first couple of paragraphs, & while I had a pretty good idea early on how it was going to play out, it was a thrill to go along for the ride, & the ending was perfectly befitting!"
