I don’t count zines but I made a conscious effort to read more of them this year, too. Really devastated that I was not introduced to zines until my 30s. One of the most beautiful forms of knowledge transfer imo.

Over the last 5 years I’ve had a goal to read two books a month. I’ve never met this goal, but, in 2025 (one of the worst years I’ve ever lived) I am at 20!! 🎉

Just finished my annual reading of Constructive Criticism by Vicki Legion and maybe I need to make this a twice a year ritual.

Anyone can see this is sick. Constant propaganda has made good people believe it’s a right to see wealthy folks ship metric tons of stone 7 thousand miles because “thats freedom, they worked hard and earned it.” Said, while working six jobs to pay for your kids leukemia treatment.

Dudes paying to dismantle abandoned monasteries halfway across the world, have the stones shipped to the US, installed in a secluded private home in northern California, post about the “craftsmanship” on public forums, while others earnestly wish to “be that wealthy” one day too. This is sick y’all.

I thought I had no skin in the game re: AI. But now I know, as an aging DINC household, the fear of needing your children to stop my runaway wheelchair from careening down the street and them having to ask ChatGPT what to do.

Gatekeeping in the comments section on whether a post should be a post in an online forum is weird.

This is dumb. Even for the NYT op-Ed page.
“The mind-set shift needed here is to acknowledge that while climate change is real and harmful, the utility of fossil fuels is not something the oil and gas industry tricked the public into,” Matthew Yglesias writes.
Opinion | Obama Supported It. The Left in Canada and Norway Do. Why Don’t Democrats?
Liberals should reconcile with America’s oil and gas industry.

Such a weird fucking thing to say. Trump, a chronic lier, manipulator, unserious person says a thing. Your response, “I’M HAVING A NORMAL REAL CONVO WITH A REPORTER ON IMPORTANT BAD THINGS TRUMP SAID AND DIDN’T DO BUT HE DID DO WORSE.” Best of the Dem. party folks.
AOC: “President Trump ran on a promise to the American people that ICE would go after the worst of the worst — What we have seen is that ICE is not overwhelmingly going after criminals — In fact, over 70% of people currently detained in detention facilities do not have a criminal record”

I’m not saying this is rational, but when I see a band on a platform like Spotify post a lengthy bio I’m like, BOOOOO. There are only three acceptable mass platform bios.

1) nothing
2) fuck off
3) a word or phrase that captures your ethos

YES I CARE ABOUT THIS

In 2024 Richmond’s safety net clinic, Health Brigade, saw 4.7m in revenue. 2025 Federal cuts have reduced their funding by 2m. They are now forced to sell the building they have owned for decades to meet the needs of those they serve.
Virginia’s oldest free clinic needs to sell its building in wake of federal budget cuts
“I often call us the safety net of the safety net,” Health Brigade executive director Karen Legato said.

In Virginia, the casino is being pushed on the public as a revenue generating force. The casino provides limited construction and low paid abusive jobs, extracts wealth from the poor, investors skim off the top, and the locality sees some revenue. There are far better ways to do things.

1) Your predefined box of interests do not interest me

2) I don’t want to be shown what I’m interested in over and over, thats boring

I’m watching a Modern Marvels episode on skyscrapers in the 1880’s and beyond and it literally was a bunch of dick measuring ego. That’s why we have all these eyesores. Not due to need. Like a rational society. Just ego.

A horrible, workaholic, father goes on a journey of selfish individualism to ensure his son isn’t a “loser” for not having the popular toy. Despite his poor parenting, selfishness, and profit obsession… he sees no consequences and is rewarded as a super hero. Jingle all the Way. One of my favorites.

This should be the biggest story in the country right now. The sitting US President was extorting state lawmakers from his own party by threatening to withhold public money if they didn’t gerrymander for him.

I don’t know how else to say it…
