New song for December 2025! Written and recorded in an hour and a half or so, just a simple song. Photo taken through a window a few years ago in Český Krumlov.

New single for November 2025! Went to see Johnny and the Yooahoos in Augsburg and they did a nice old timey tune, must have inspired me. Not too long afterwards I grabbed the mandolin off the wall and spontaneously wrote this A part, the B part came the next day. Photo taken in Metz.

Song from September 2023. Vocals recorded lo-fi in Herzegovina after cycling through Serbia, my first song in Italian. 6/4 verse, 5/4 chorus, 4/4 middle part, time signatures idea semi-stolen from Did I Say by Teenage Fanclub. Another one of my favourites.

New song for October 2025! Have had the chorus melody and title for years, written after seeing a short video about the formation of the moon and what the earth would be like without it. Lots of synths and guitar effects, sung in the morning for that morning voice feel.

Song from October 2024. Featuring Fred Rosenstand on drums and DADF#AD tuning, this could be my favourite single I’ve put out so far. It builds up to 28 vocal parts, features unconventional electric guitar and keyboard sounds, and ended up exactly like I thought it would, not always the case.

New song for September 2025! Written in my head on the way back from a solo gig a few weeks ago after passing a decommissioned nuclear plant I always photograph. Big baritone guitar solo to blow open a simple song. Photo of a different tower I cycled past last summer in Romania.

Song from November 2023. Right and left hands of the accordion recorded separately due to talent limitations. AI artwork, I’m trying to use my own photos these days though. Possibly influenced by BMX Bandits.

New song for August 2025! A rare one in that I based it on a guitar riff, recorded the music before I even thought of a melody. Weird extra half beat in there for bad measure. Probably could have mixed it better. Photo taken while cycling along the Danube through Hungary a few years ago.

I had the privilege of singing some harmonies on Kevin’s new single, a tribute to Brian Wilson. Give him a honk!

New song for July 2025! An Irish and a Greek bouzouki, mandolin, and a bit of organ, kind of a Planxty arrangement. Photo taken at Charles Fort in Kinsale.

Song from December 2023. Kevin O’Shea was visiting from Cork and we quickly dashed this off before I took him back to the airport. He plays a few electric guitar parts including the solo. I think I wrote this song in 1997, played it with Carnivorous Grass first in Olathe, Kansas.

Song from January 2024. Timpani inspired by George Harrison, one of the first I did with Logic drums. One of my favourites from the monthly singles series.

At a concert and went for a wander around the block during the break, saw this. I’m afraid to look up what it is, but I plan on becoming a member soon.

Song from February 2024. Wrote the guitar part in 2010 or so, finally wrote some words, added lots of reverb and delay, recorded the singing very quietly, I like that effect.

Song from March 2024. Cycle of fourths to a key change, drums by Fred Rosenstand, this song almost has it all. Not the greatest recording, probably the wrong key too. Surprisingly got a lot of complements about this one.

Song from April 2024. A semi-ok ode to 50s songs, lots of tremolo guitars and a nice ooh section. Should have added a piano on each quarter note, this could use a redo.

Song from May 2024. Had a drum recording session with Fred Rosenstand and wrote the music about an hour before to have one more song to record. Finished it up a year or two later, left it sounding plug and play. Photo of an old nuclear power plant near Landshut from the train at night.

Song from June 2024. Recorded the piano in the basement at work, my attempt to write a Neil Young style piano ballad. Went for the extra long fade out at the end.

Song from July 2024. Music written about 2010, guitars recorded about 2015, Fred Rosenstand’s drums about 2019, words written in 2024, vocals recorded in the Metropoltheater München between sound check and a show. Picture of a door in the Palazzo Ducale in Genova.

Song from September 2024. I had this chord sequence in my head for maybe ten years, nothing too original, just a basic minor verse to major chorus switch. The oohs in the second chorus on make it listenable I think.
