You said "not everyone is fit to marry or raise children". It was a blanket statement. I probed it. Now we are here.

If anyone in the scenario you described definitely shouldn't be a parent, it's the wife-beaters and child molestors. Let's talk about that before we say victims can never be decent parents or partners ever again.

That dysfunction can take different forms though. It doesn't mean every victim shouldn't be a parent or partner. It probably means every victim should receive the resources and supports they need to address that dysfunction, and actual justice from the justice system.

Do you mean to imply that anyone who has experienced domestic violence or sexual assault is an unfit partner or parent? Cause that's wack to just claim without any caveats or nuance.

I thought this was an Onion article

Because he said what they wanted to hear. Because the alternative meant believing people they hated.

People looking to see MAGA vigilantes get a taste of their own medicine (FAFO). Probably a bit of both.

The reason it's a great rumour is because whether or not it's accurate, or common, it's believable because none of the rest of us trust ICE, MAGA, or cops.
June 21, 2025 at 4:32 PM
If it's MAGA fanatacists doing this, then the perception is that something can be done to stop it, prevent it, end it, etc. (Even though nothing will be). I don't know whether there are instigators out there trying to get people to toss the coin and attack a cop or whether it's
June 21, 2025 at 4:30 PM
It does and should, but the general perception is a bit different. If these actions are done by police, it limits public response (in the public kind), because the title "cop" still carries legal and cognitive legitimacy, even if said cops are not legitimately obeying the laws of the land.

Because we think the people violating our constitutional rights are sticklers for rules?
June 21, 2025 at 7:17 AM
Equally likely to have some truth to it as to be totally fabricated by Russian bots for the sake of instigating violence lol
June 21, 2025 at 7:16 AM
And the cops at Uvalde stood around outside for an hour with their thumbs in their asses. Why do we think they are magically all competent when it comes to domestic terrorism, but attribute human fallibility to them when it comes to their jobs?
June 21, 2025 at 7:13 AM
There's not really any good reason to think that cops would follow some laws and conventions while they brazenly violate the constitutional rights of citizens. Why is masks the line they won't cross? That doesn't make sense to me. They will do what they can get away with.

Addendum: shot at least four politicians, murdered two.*
June 21, 2025 at 7:09 AM
That's as good as it happening all the time when it comes to social media.
June 21, 2025 at 7:09 AM
I don't think it comes from a place of respect for cops, I think it comes from a place of trying to stoke terror and outrage in people. I mean, a guy literally dressed up like a cop and shot two dem politicians, so it has happened at least once, confirmed, and if it happened once,
June 21, 2025 at 7:06 AM
Because whether they're cops or not, they still have weapons and are clearly willing to enact violence either way?

That ship sailed back when SCOTUS declared a president was above the law
June 19, 2025 at 5:23 AM
Will never see, that will be hung over our heads for a profit.
