It seems like dementia induced anxiety to me... I've seen it in a couple of older relatives. Regret over medical tests and procedures is common... as is blaming doctors or friends/relatives who recommend them for the "problems" that result from them.

OTOH, she loves him (presumably) and his change of behavior could be attributed to his stroke, so she may stick around quite a while.
