At this point, I don't mean to be fatalistic/pessimistic, but I think policy needs to prioritize adaptation over prevention- or at least place it on par. 2C is all but certain as you say...I hope we get ahead of what needs to be done to adapt in the best way possible.

Local ed board elections are good for politics and policy. And for Repubs, the latter follows the former: incentives align nationally and locally.

Yes- yes yes . I am not a person of faith but I do hope, with all my heart, that he lives a long, long life retaining full mental faculties.

Really? Oh definitely check it out- nothing to be afraid of if you take it on its own terms. It's really good. And it's...actually different in some important regards from the novel. Not least of which they make the plot leaner and punchier.

Eventually we're going to end up with you wanting to re-watch and write about The English Patient again- and I just want to be the first to very much encourage you to do it. (People remember the "Romance" angle...and overlook what a twisty spy/war thriller narrative it has. Should be revisited.)
