Kaaren's influence on many basic scientists was enormous. I was a prof (now emerita) of Hum Gen at the U of Utah and early on I was delighted to learn that I had the Kaaren Antoun AP Bio experience in common with 2 other faculty, (Neurobiologists) Rich Dorsky and Chi-Bin Chien (now deceased).

Kaaren and John hosted me at their SF home the night before. Wow, did I feel like a grown-up at 17! I had never heard of Jane Goodall, but it was inspiring to learn in person about her work as a woman scientist. I've never forgotten Kaaren's hand in that opportunity.

Loved your appreciation of Kaaren Antoun as an AP Bio teacher/mentor. She was also a major influence on me. She acquired a pass for me to attend a session in which Jane Goodall spoke at the 1974 AAAS meeting in SF. Since the session was in the early AM,
