In that same timeframe, he has posted a -1 DRS, and a -4 OAA across every position hes played (2B, SS, CF)

Mateo DFA. Its just the easiest and cleanest option. The defense has been remarkably average post 2022, hes run a .267 OBP the last 3 seasons. Hard to option Kjerstad for depth pieces when Holliday/Henderson/Westburg/Urias can cover the infield positions pretty easily.

I think Verlander is the most upside low floor out of the 3, but IMO I think Scherzer and Morton are pretty comparable as things stand. And Morton had the better Stuff by stuff+ last season. 🤷

I think that this move allows to to shop Kremer or Povich easier than previously. And honestly, I kinda like Morton more than Scherzer or Verlander considering the latter two missed pretty considerable time last season where as Morton has been pretty consistent in innings for the last 6 or so years.

It’s funny because his savant page is eerily similar to one Alex Verdugo who Yankee fans hated last season.

Middling defense in CF, doesn’t hit the ball hard at all, Steamer has him projected for 2fWAR/110 wRC+ in 2025. Not much of a needle mover IMO.

If we’re going down that route I’d rather go Verlander if able. Stuff’s better and if we’re signing an old guy a freak neck injury> back and nerve issues that plagued Scherzer’s 2024

sure, but 2024 is the most drastic change that they have been, and Tmobile is pitchers paradise. Just really dont feel good about 3-4 years with Castillo, even his Stuff+ numbers have been super funky.

I worry about what happens with Castillo when he gets taken out of TMobile. Walk rate doubles, Ks fall off, wrong side of 30.....

As someone that is generally against the long contracts for pitchers (especially at 30+)....I dont hate this for some reason.
