Based on the e Wikipedia entry, it separate from the Episcopal church on the USA and the Anglican Church in Canada over the decision to ordain women in the 70s.

When Trump won the nomination in 2016, I knew the party as we knew it was dead. The only question was whether he'd end up forming a 3rd party and pull support from the GOP or if he'd take over the party and push out the principled conservatives.
That's pretty clear now.
