Fascinating to see these voting campaigns reminding people they can keep their vote secret. How often does this happen? A recent YouGov poll finds 11% of people have kept their vote secret from their partner. Our 2020 paper found people keep this secret mostly from family, then friends and partners.

People on average keep their secrets for years (mean=9, median=5). Can you experimentally create this typical kind of secret? No. So what can you do? See our new paper! How can we learn about experiences that cannot be recreated in the laboratory? www.columbia.edu/~ms4992/Pubs...

More than 10 years in the making, our paper on positive secrets is finally out! Secrecy is not inherently fatiguing - keeping positive secrets can be energizing. We have about a dozen more studies that didn't make the paper. Stay tuned for part two! www.columbia.edu/~ms4992/Pubs...
