WIP Wednesday let's goooo

A teeny tidbit from the first chapter of Painkiller (I can't wait to release this fic ahhh! Needs more work tho, for sure). Will deffo not be posting something every Wednesday, but I figured I could share this much for now :3

Ahead of them stood a glorious, massive apple dripping with golden caramel that decorated the signage of a busy station. Masses of people crowded around it, children wailing in want and adults complaining about the wait. Between the shifting forms, Lucifer could spy vats of caramel and a myriad of toppings. Did he raise too far and reach the Heavens? No, Alastor was still beside him and there was no way St. Peter would let him through the Gates. Sweet, sugary goodness called his name as he watched on- the crowd not moving whatsoever as a group of small children told their parents what they wanted. The king sighed wearily. It had been a long day already- wading through a horde of human children hyped up on sweets sounded like a worse idea than the teacups but for an entirely different reason. He recalled that he never took his medicine for the day. Not that it would’ve helped with the sheer volume of ups and downs the trip had given him, but maybe he would’ve had the mental energy to get him to the stand of his dreams. Lucifer heaved another heavy sigh, “Maybe next time. Come on, the girls are still waiting for us.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Radio Demon didn’t budge at Lucifer’s half-hearted pull on their linked arms. Instead, he hummed in thought, tilting his head to the side. The crowd was dense, but manipulatable. All humans were, with the correct motivation. “Just a moment longer, Lu. It might clear up quicker than you think.” Slinking through the masses, his shadow went to work.
