I decided to check myself, & the change isn't just in the US. Here's a side-by-side from Google maps from Japan & the US (メキシコ湾(アメリカ湾)translates to "Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America)")

The level of callous disregard for some people's safety is disheartening honestly 😔 I think people might not want to empathize sometimes, bc it's easier & less stressful to not

I hope more people will at least try, & I appreciate those who already do

There are some cases where it can be appropriate, like for kids who are unable to function in a normal school environment.

But it should be strongly regulated, to ensure the student's safety & make sure they don't fall behind their peers academically
