As it turns out, the European Cucuteni-Trypillia culture invented the #taiji (or 'Yin/Yang) symbol a thousand years before its earliest appearance in China.

Canadian prime minister Mark Carney's full speech at Davos, if only Kier Starmer could do the same!
This is the approach the UK needs to be taking.

So the real question right now to ask of people like Jeff Bezos is if the US sanctions your country and asks you to turn off the government services that rely on your cloud what are you going to do?
Are you going to do what your government tells you to, or are […]

A friend's employer is currently interviewing for an open 'Head of AI' position, white guy in suit and tie waiting in office reception area.
Personally I'm really disappointed in the company's lack of conviction in AI, surely they should be using AI for this role?

The problem with always being on the cutting edge is that you're never quite sure whom that edge will cut.

You don’t need to be an expert to know war is evil and to say so and to be against it, you just need to be a decent person with a solid moral foundation.

Sadly, an important thread for 2026.
One thing that the public doesn't seem to quite realize about the way that financing works in the tech industry — indeed in all financing, more or less — is that there is an oft-repeated aphorism among VCs, "too much money chasing too few deals". This might seem weird if you are a person who […]

When I see supposedly responsible Software "thought leaders" post shit like "It's everybody's responsibility to move fast" it makes me wince.
It's like saying "It's everybody's responsibility to carry a firearm".
Yes, possibly. If you're in the Army, maybe. But for the vast majority of people […]

Important Christmas reminder: download all the manuals from all the devices your family got this year and store them in a folder. Thank me in half a year if you need them 😉
#grownup hack: every time you buy a new hardware thing, search for pdf version of the manual. Store it on your disk with a filename that you can easily search for.

Next time you have a problem with that thing, you won’t need to search for that small paper printout in font size 4 😅.
