Question 3, When drawing the hair for the keyframes, im kinda just drawing hair that looks good at that angle, and only trying to maintain consistency for the size of the hair generally and the bangs, is this the norm or is there some standard to follow?

Question 2, I labeled my reference frames with a triangle, the initial keyframe would be notated as A(1) and the ones with triangles are notated as A<1a>, or A<1b>, should i be incrementing the letter or is there a different way to notate these?

Question 1, i feel like i used too many reference frames and not enough keyframes, but i really cannot tell how many is "enough", is there such thing as too much? At what point should i just make a new keyframe?

OKAY!! heres the thread for my list of questions while making it!

Also ANOTHER DISCLAIMER,
i didnt have a proper reference sheet, the season 1 ref sheet is public, but nothing for season 3-
so my initial frame references this drawing, (ofc i avoided tracing)

Heres the timesheet,
Im not sure if i annotated it correctly (esp the ref frames), and now that im looking at it, i feel like the amount of reference frames i made is a little absurd, should have i just made a new keyframe inbetween 2 and 3 or relied on the douga artist more? idk

Here are the keys only
(disclaimer, i animated straight ahead, then i went and marked certain frames as they keyframes after the fact, and this is my first time looking at the keyframes only, making me realize how offmodel it was and warping the top left of the head slightly X_X)

Right now, I think my biggest issue is lack of friends in the industry-
I have NO CLUE who or where to reach out to for help to ask questions and get help ;-;

LO seems like a good starting place to get into it as I feel especially confident in drawing backgrounds but I have NO CLUE where to even look to start-
Ningen is possible? I feel like I can spot animation issues w timing or spacing, but fixing model issues feels out of my league

I feel like I’m underqualified to do genga, I’ve animated quite a lot but I feel like jumping right into doing genga without really having a good understanding of the internal workings is not a good idea, ningen maybe? And LO seems possible if I have a place to ask questions^
February 18, 2026 at 12:36 AM
So! Instead, my options are LO, ningen, and genga-

Also if your in the industry and dont mind taking a novice under your wing to ask questions to and teach a here and there, reach out!
Also-Also have like no friends who are interested in pursuing this field and are also trying to learn stuff about it, if your in my boat, HMU!

Im looking for critiques of all kind, anyone is welcome to give pointers or give advice!
Im particularly looking for advice adjacent to things pertaining to production, but general art advice is welcome too!

I also made small adjustments and on the fly to make the drawing more accurate, like making corrections to the perspective on places like the cup, i don't know if this is something i should keep doing or if should be as strict as possible when tracing-

Also I saw somewhere on youtube that i should not be applying anti-aliasing to the lines, is this true? Or does it not matter?
December 18, 2025 at 3:36 AM
One of my big questions is that can i get the timing of the shot only from the cell annotations? or would i need the timesheet, the original source didnt have a timesheet attached so i wasnt sure how to do the douga, but would i be able to do it with the annotations only?
December 18, 2025 at 3:36 AM
Some of the images contain the questions i had,
I also wanted to post the original genga source, but the book said that anything directly from the book isnt allowed to be posted anywhere.
Is there any place where i can get genga with the timesheets to practice with?
