That's horrifying. Makes me feel sick to my stomach. And that shortfall is only the tip of the iceberg with other family services being cut so badly...

If they want both parents to work they have to make it happen.

Are you on the JISC mailing list for AI? There's quite a few interesting conversations on there. One of the difficulties is this transition period where we don't know exactly how good AI is going to get. It is a moving target.

Do we know what the shortfall will be for the average early years provision? I only know funding rules for ks3+

All of these changes will lead to an increase in workload for the lecturers and teachers who are expected to make the changes.

So we can either expect students are going to use AI so assess to a higher standard or in a way in which AI struggles, or, maybe we could measure different aspects of knowledge acquisition and application in different ways? It's a real issue. No easy answers.

Does that mean that we are stuck with an essay if we want to measure everything on my list? Because I can see different assessment methods would be better at measuring different aspects, but the humble essay is the workhorse that does everything.

I'm struggling to find anyone who can tell me definitively the purpose of assessment. What are we judging? Is it knowledge? Understanding? The application of knowledge? The synthesis of new knowledge? Or do people want to know that someone can do a good job in that field?

I'm not into dictators but sometimes I would really like an adult in charge to make this happen!

But 1% "now" is untenable to those in charge. They'll just let it go to rack and ruin

Wholeheartedly agree with this but the only way it would work would be to reduce the ridiculously technical curriculum for KS2 children. Let's go back to learning English for the joy of language.

That's an interesting segway. Have you spoken to any other colleges who are delivering it?

They will soon be teenagers then you will be begging them to spend time with you. I've only seen one of mine today!

Filled with coffee and naps. Too chilly to go out!

Actually, my perception has not been that murderers don't get long enough, but that people are not necessarily charged with what people might consider a reasonable offence. That they are charged with a lesser offence in order to increase the chance of a successful prosecution.

Thanks for the recommendation. Looks good.

Let's do this

The more we interact the more we will find each other.

There's a limit to how much hate I could put up with. Just trying to find all the people I like on here!
