Idk long story short, i think i make writing my chars harder on myself by trying to achieve story beats or shove them in a mold that i *think* they belong in rather than just kinda listening to their story (i.e my gut lol)

And I think I should lean into that. It almost feels like a satisfying trope reversal that their most current incarnation is framed as “yeah by all accounts they should hate each other, but they just don’t.” It’s always been more Romeo and Juliet to me, i think.

Worded much better and more eloquently than my summary ofc. But i just can’t stop thinking about it with regards to my own work. I feel like i’ve branded brex as an E2L trope but like… they are just clearly obsessed with each other.

Basically the tldr of it is that most modern romances center around enemies to lovers (an excellent trope) and that the characters are overcoming their disdain for each other rather than just… being enamored or tender with each other
