Russia must be destroyed.
The risk now is that the regime scales back its abductions to a less visible, more targeted level, so that people go back to their regular lives, protests die down, the Dems shake hands with the fascists, and a "gentler" fascism prevails without continued resistance. /4

It's terrible that all the deaths that are yet to come could have been avoided, if only people had acted sooner. But that's how it always is with dictators - nobody stops them, people think it won't be so bad, and then it's too late. Fascists thrive when they have no opposition. /3

Apparently it takes death squads on the streets to rouse people. It's telling that the country is only outraged when white people start getting terrorized & killed. "Foreigners" are still dispensible, and any number of them can be killed off in the camps without much outcry. /2

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations...evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security." /19

In the words of the ancients: "All experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed... /18

In the end, fascism cannot be defeated for long by democratic means - not without waiting a generation, til the country's in ruins and no one can believe the lies anymore. But any delay is too long: the longer people wait, the more lives will be lost.
This does not have to pass. /17

But millions of voters, in their stupidity & ignorance, cheer on a tyranny based on hatred & spite. These voters & the villains they elect will remain long after the regime crumbles, and they'll continue to crush any attempt at improvement or the public good & destroy the country if they can. /16
January 25, 2026 at 11:16 AM
In short, there is no sign the country's downward spiral to self-destruction will be stopped.
All of this is totally pointless and unnecessary, the endpoint of a cascade of longstanding failures & flaws in society that were never addressed and have led to political breakdown. /15

After a few years of ineffectual Dems doing nothing in the face of ceaseless hysterical right-wing propaganda, there's a better than 50% chance a new fascist regime will take over in 2033, ready to take the next steps to permanent rule. /14
January 25, 2026 at 11:14 AM
Fascists will continue to block congress, rule the courts, and stay in office throughout the states, making any reforms impossible. Most of the regime's policies will quietly continue. The US will be in a state of economic catastrophe by that point, the government feeble & weakened. /13
January 25, 2026 at 11:14 AM
One best-case scenario, in the unlikely event a new Dem administration somehow manages to take office in 2029, is that it will go through the same cycle as before: There will be no trials, no reconstruction - everyone will be pardoned & forgiven, all crimes forgotten. /12
January 25, 2026 at 11:13 AM
Personally I see a breakup of the states as more likely after 2029 than a civil war, but who knows. Most Americans seem incapable of rising up against anything. Maybe they'll whine a little from their couches. /11
January 25, 2026 at 11:12 AM
Since the fascists are at war with reality, rule by lies & violence will (hopefully) weaken them and finally force people to act to save themselves. But it's not enough to end the regime, as all too many dictatorships attest: everyone in power is helping it stay afloat. /10
January 25, 2026 at 11:12 AM
The only thing stirring any sign of grumbling in the public is the regime's own actions spreading anger & resentment in a backlash. The best hope for the country is the stupidity of its rulers as they threaten everyone and bring only ruin to the world, creating their own opposition. /9
January 25, 2026 at 11:12 AM
Ultimately only people in DC can end this, but until they're finally roused (if ever), the rest of the country must suffer and fall to pieces. The cost of waiting for public anger to rise may be unavoidable, but it's severe. /8
January 25, 2026 at 11:04 AM
It's a collective-action problem: everyone's decided to wait a few years for elections and let the fascists have their way (as if things won't get worse). People believe things can go back to 'normal' without too much inconvenience. /7
January 25, 2026 at 11:02 AM
The idea of removing the regime before elections has hardly any public support. Without popular momentum, ending the regime at any time will be impossible. It's certain that the criminals will stay in power illegally, but most likely no one will lift a finger against them, even after elections. /6
January 25, 2026 at 11:01 AM
The Dems do their best to stifle any opposition. They will help the regime stay in power, even in 2029. This makes it much harder for any resistance to form, when political leaders supposedly on "their side" try to kill it, and it makes any goal difficult to achieve. /5
January 25, 2026 at 11:01 AM
Since no one will act unless they're personally in danger, at least 98% of Americans are content to live in a fascist dictatorship for years to come.
It's not that different, after all; you get used to it. Americans are a passive, obedient bunch. Acquiescence is the order of the day. /4
January 25, 2026 at 10:59 AM
Americans continue to sleep. Other than a few threatened cities like Minneapolis, protests have been ineffective, and resistance all but non-existent outside of some courtrooms. /3
January 25, 2026 at 10:58 AM
As expected, conditions get worse by the week. The insane tyrant grows more deranged daily; the country is being destroyed at a rapid pace; gangs of nazi thugs shoot & kidnap people at random. Everyone lets them. /2
