This is really interesting because due to a friends fun prod of AI and my early ideas the AI was advocating that Megastructures would be limited on Manhattan but it's mostly old science and assumptions. :)

Related, I think a lot of people underestimate the degree to which society mapped the world in detail.

Browse google earth style the entire UK 1":1 mile (1:63,360), 1885-1903. This include hills!

These maps are like 140 years old now.
