Feel you, bleak that crypto feels like the only vector for my salvation, the fiat from my 12 hour days has to be sacrificed to mean something while I’m still young

Will never understand how the country with 84ish coups attempts can be better than the one with zero (maybe credit for helping prevent some of our coups?) under a good faith qualitative assessment but ok, good luck to you

parting tidbit: countries need good relations with their neighbors to thrive

It’s not different this time. Saying RU INVADED UKR is exactly ignoring context and silencing E Ukr voices you don’t hear. There is a picture of false consensus being painted for you. The west isn’t the entire world. There are varying opinions on this. The last thing you need to be is stigmatized

No thoughts on the coincidence with the new govt being wildly pro-Western? No thoughts on military “aid” being poured into Ukr during the 8 years of diplomacy after the coup? whether RU should have the right pour the same military aid into Mexico if Mexico wants it?

Keep in mind it’s taken how many decades for the lid to finally get blown off Israeli genocide to the point people are publically up in arms? And how many fence sitters are there still, with a live-streamed genocide going on? Always question the narrative. Don’t block yourself off from context

You seem like a good person, but will likely keep going along with the crowd in this one. Enough people around you l that you see as people have shown you you can get validation by questing a non-Western view on Israel, but exploring a non-western viewpoint on Ukraine is still scary and stigmatized
September 14, 2024 at 1:02 AM
Put another way, to ignore the context leading up to 2022 is to blindly assume the US has a right to be anywhere it wants, against all history and decency, and deny that places and people the media doesn’t prioritize for you could possibly have a right to dislike the US doing whatever it wants

No most Ukrainians aren’t supremacists. Most Ukrainians also aren’t ashamed of Russian-ness or ignorant to the fact that Ukraine is a multi-ethnic territory. In 2014 we decided those Ukrainians are suddenly not people, unwelcome in their own country they have as much right as W Ukr to inhabit
September 14, 2024 at 12:52 AM
You didn’t answer the question. What are any western-back Freedom Fighters that didn’t end up being used? You should be able to bury me in recent and historical context about why it’s different this time. Ukraine is the next to get tragically used up and discarded
September 13, 2024 at 9:30 PM
You only care about short-term group identity and fitting in with the comfortable narrative you’ve been given so you get positive brain-chemicals from that. You couldn’t think for yourself if you tried
September 13, 2024 at 9:13 PM
What was the last time a post-WW2 western narrative ever proved accurate? Hindsight is all it takes to know they’re there to hide imperialism. Give me just one, and why you think it’s different with NATO in Eastern Europe after 5 expansions. You don’t care about context, only short-term politics
September 13, 2024 at 9:12 PM
I gotta ask, what was the last post-WW2 Western war narrative that aged particularly well? The Mujahideen. South Vietnam. All the Western-backed freedom fighters of yore the nightmare every one of those narratives were covering up. To think it’s different this time is to get caught up in illusion

It’s mostly to combat/protest against this kind of unthinking stigmatization you embody. Enjoy it while you can
September 13, 2024 at 8:30 PM
The undemocratic overthrow of a sovereign president is a coup, even pro-Western analysts acknowledge that. What they tend to ignore/forget is the 8 years of intense diplomacyRU was engaged in with Ukraine and others until April 2022. The West didn’t allow Ukraine the final say. Context is everything
