My old man lived in Texas and I visited a couple times a year growing up. That was a few years ago, but there was nothing closed-door about it. And it wasn’t just the tobacco-spitters. I clearly remember the kindly retired doctor and his wife from across the street. As casual as how-do-you-do.

Merritt Wever was amazing as Zoe. Her turn from comic sidekick to eventually embodying the full range of emotions that come with loving an addict. She made me hurt.

Very few (if any) one-dimensional characters on NJ. You’ll love and hate or hate and love most of them before it’s over. Great great series that doesn’t get enough mentions among the best of TV’s “Golden Age.”
