"Does anyone see me at all?"

Experimenting with more abstract art, I feel frustrated by the perfection of pixel art as an expressive tool. My ideas and my feelings aren't so neat. Had a lot of fun with this one.
A jumble of shapes, checkered patterns and a rainbow of colors form a silhouette around a vaguely defined central figure. "Do you see me at all?", a cry into the void, a hope for someone to look a little deeper.

I always seem to get the worst art block during the summer. This is all I could manage to do, but I’m glad it’s at least something.
A person with glasses and a bleak expression. Tired. The face draws you in with high rendering while the rest of the form fades into the dark background growing increasing abstract.

“Decay” - December 2022
Original Palette “Sepian Mildew”
“Decay” is a self portrait of my internal dialogue at the time. It features an androgynous figure with a deathly look. Their hair and body blurring with the background represents the loss of reality associated with severe depression. And the cloud leaking from atop their head represents the loss of creativity and color.
