Back in 2021, PMG reported on the unseen games industry crunch taking place at outsourcing studios in SE Asia.

Since then, the companies we looked at have continued to work on some of the biggest games in the world, without any push to improve the conditions of the artists doing that work. (1/7)

It occurs to me, after reading posts getting it spectacularly wrong, that there are a lot of misconceptions over how game studios organize and, in particular, who makes the actual decisions about what ends up in your game. Much of it is by folks who don't *try* to get it... but not all, surely. 1/🧵

I finished Siren this week. It is such a bizarre game in a lot of ways. It is WILDLY unfriendly and obtuse, but absolutely intoxicating. It is hard to believe it was put out by Sony. Since I don't have anywhere (or the inclination) to write an essay about it, here's a small thread w/ random screens
