Personally do believe that a discussion can be had about why the peak season is so quiet just like we had last year. Yes there will be more storms of course but that doesn’t mean we just ignore the current state of the tropics.

I also opened that article to see if they were going to provide any examples or recommendations based on their own list but seems like that was a big ask for them. Insane that they think regular people will be able to use it just like that.

Well if you put up the actual size of the asteroid against that of earth then it won’t be even visible and then you run into the problem of people starting to claim it’s “fearmongering” because it’s so small

Maybe i am missing an obvious joke but isn’t this simply because the earth is being shown in the graphic from a perspective near the asteroid?

I don’t think i said that anywhere did I? I was replying to your comment about seeing follower count as a sign of meritocracy which i still disagree with. If everyone started using follower count as metric then what will happen is a race to farm followers leaving little room for genuine discussions.

I agree with this line of thinking, using number of followers as a sign of merit is an extremely poor choice, you should be engaging based on the merit of their comment not their follower count. I have followed Richard’s account for years on Twitter and it saddens me to read that you think this way.

The wx community loves to act that way about any event tbf whether it be snow or severe or tropical. The number of arguments and name-calling I have seen about C4 vs C5 or a 5mph difference between official estimates and their own is ridiculous and eventually just burns most people out of it.
