Making stuff up is literally how it's designed to work. Most models don't have any reasoning to understand that they're factually incorrect. The cutting edge models do not it's still very early.

Your points are totally correct! I'm research, you shouldn't use it as a way to find facts but to summarize already accurate information in a way that you can quickly digest and so you can make decisions without reading entire papers every time.
