The deterrent that can stop the inevitable Chinese invasion is a nuclear deterrent. No amount of M1A2 or F16 is going to deter China because, at best, the US is only committed to arming Taiwan, not actively defend it. There will be no American troops in Taiwan once the China feel they can invade.
Very good to see this prioritization. As I wrote in #WorldOnTheBrink, deterring a Chinese attempt to forcefully annex Taiwan is of paramount importance to the United States and, unfortunately, has been too neglected over decades
