Now I am creating content for @wotc-news.bsky.social and accessing all of my life experiences (including as a Boy Scout, Lifeguard, kitchen worker, census surveyor, political canvasser, construction) to create realistic environments in fantasy settings.

After the Army, I worked in different places around #California

Including for #NASA

And one man who was the Chapter President of the Service Disabled Vet Own Small Business Alliance in Los Angeles. Eye opening into how vets are first class citizens.

The Electrician Union made me feel at home.

I did not know what to do with myself after graduating (likely a sign of depression). Returned home and after job hunting, settled on joining the @usarmy.bsky.social as a Journalist.

Once again, life at home and life in a new space, very different world. Lot of things changed. I matured more.

Towards the end of second year, started focusing on my major and taking appropriate classes.

By this point, I was participating with an email list and we started doing group writing projects. I was having trouble doing the homework reading, but could use what I learned in class to write narrative.

@ucsb.bsky.social was great for helping me live on my own and start becoming an adult. And slowly realizing the bad advice my parents gave me.

Email lists, chatrooms, online gaming, social clubs. I was able to do things I wanted for a change, meet people I wanted to meet.

Two years of fun.

I kept writing. High school typing class gave me the opportunity to write more 100+ page stories that my insomnia helped me create.

When it was time to pick a major for college, I chose English because every other major gave me hesitation. I figured I would change later.

College was very different

Rereading, I saw a lot of description, little dialogue. And 40 pages that did not fit in. First edit, from 140 down to 100 pages.

Second edit: 110 pages. Third edit: 130 pages. Fourth: 160 pages. Fifth and more, I was getting up to 180+ pages.

I was adding in characters, scenes, drama.

Video game addiction. I am familiar. You have my empathy.
