Also, the US is so big you assume someone somewhere talks like that

How many directors are now being asked “why can’t you make this movie for $10m if they can?”

It was a choice in that he traded it for more education spending and a tax break for low income Pennsylvanians with the Republicans who control the State Senate. Don’t know what else he could have traded. The budget was four months late because they couldn’t come to a deal.

We squaring this circle with designated players?

Thank you for saying this! Felt very much the same about Nosferatu which put similar work in and I thought looked even worse.

Yesavage and McLean the same year is pretty funny

Especially when it’s Freddie Freeman! But it worked…

I want to see Kudus - Xavi - Johnson.
Think that could simplify the choices for Kudus (beat a man and cross/cutback to Brennan immediately) and mean that there is more space for Spence to inevitably cut in since he won’t stay wide.

Anatomy of a Fall, Women Talking, The Last Duel, and The Menu all spring to mind other than some of the more obvious ones

It’s Calvinist Calvinball to be precise!

Well, they didn’t triple it if you pull out the flukey goal, it was pretty even. We had some nice attacking moments finally even if they didn’t add up to shots. Draw was probably deserved.

The xG is very deceptive because half of their xG comes from the goal which only happened because Vicario made a save on a deflected shot that led directly to the goal. If Vicario doesn’t make the save, the xG is much more even.

Um…does his full no trade clause kick in now or January 1st might be a question someone can see if they can find an answer to

I don’t know how much the ceiling has changed, but even a season where he finally was good, didn’t really improve the now slim chance of him learning to consistently use his bat speed to pull the ball in the air and become a star worthy of that ceiling

The 0.5 fWAR difference when you fully include catcher defense puts them easily within the normal margin of error of each other. Also, we really have no idea how to value catchers in general, which raises the uncertainty.

I hope they nail Death By Lightning

A lot of them have always been like this! Look at Guiteau or Hinckley.

This is a good point, our brains just don’t like to accept that so much of sports is just randomness and luck playing out in never large enough samples

This exact thing happening twice to Soto in three years is a crazy bad break for him
September 22, 2025 at 1:06 PM
Yeah, but if you watch Mendoza’s hand signals when Machado is up backwards…

WAR by Team

I like this. Though if a team commits a foul, that can’t end play until the fouling team gets the ball back after a restart.
