On the hike the other day there were three rib cages (deer) right at the trailhead near the road. They weren’t there a few days before. Wondering if it was an animal that brought them all to the same spot or someone dumping parts. Super creepy.

No more boletes today. Instead we found something even more rare. Beefsteak polypore, or ox tongue mushroom. Fistulina Hepatica.
Doesn’t taste like beef but it bleeds a red substance. Tastes slightly acidic. Lemony.
