It's always hard for me to pick up on tone through text. Whenever I see someone say "it can be explained" as far as brains/experiences go, I get rubbed the wrong way. Thanks for the article.

Just because something can be explained in scientific or clinical terms, does not remove the mystery of its' essence. Reducing the endless variety of experiencing reality to "neuro components" removes the human element in a big way. What are you accomplishing by trivializing natural phenomena?

I feel similarly about schizophrenia. Much overlapping, misunderstanding, glossing over many ancient, cultural perspectives. I feel we are getting closer to understanding what these experiences are outside of western psychiatry.
