Analog or digital? I always find this question ridiculous, there is no correct way, no definitive, this sounds better than that. Each piece of music as it develops, sound choices are made. Using our ears should be what informs those decisions.

In the attic, in a dusty stacker tub, protected through the years I have an Atari ST upgraded back then to a massive 4mb! Running midi only Cubase, the sync was impeccable. One day I will get it all working again. But for now my love affair with Ableton (which started at version 5) continues.

Although I’d not wish to go back to recording to tape & I love how music production technology has evolved but I do miss not having to consider bpm. You just played and recorded, tempo was set by the playing by the musician, speeding up and slowing down as the emotion felt right.
