A few more stills I love. I'm avoiding posting too much about the movie itself, since due to it being an anthology the plots are relatively simple, but they are all expertly done. The first story, the Telephone, had the lesbian overtones stripped out for the American release and plot altered to fit.

The film's stories are introduced by none other than Boris Karloff, who also plays a major role in the second sequence, The Wurdulak, as Gorca.

Just watched 1963's Black Sabbath (original Italian Title, "I tre volti della paura", or The Three Faces of Fear), it is an absolutely GORGEOUS horror anthology. Just look that main title card! The director, Mario Bava, wanted to emulate the scenes painted for covers of giallo stories, and it shows.

In other words, a writer with a fondness for verbiage might be accused of "wordiness." Some people think the phrase "excess verbiage" is redundant, but that's not necessarily true. Verbiage has a second sense meaning, simply, "wording," with no suggestion of excess. This second definition has sometimes been treated as an error by people who insist that verbiage must always imply excessiveness, but that sense is well-established and can be considered standard.
