but anyway the wedding was awesome and beautiful and i definitely dont have that little moment locked in my head whenever i exercise or think about picking up running again. 🙂

i get ready to remind coach who i am in case he doesnt recognize me when he fucking says

"i remember you. you used to waddle when you ran. i gotta talk to my team" and just walked away.

i was so shellshocked i just excused myself and left.

i say hi, recount the pure coincidence that led me to be there and just kinda hang out a little. anyway, the head coach comes over and my buddy is like "hey, look who's here." gesturing to me.

i miss the race but as im checking things out i notice our tent and head over cause i see a) one of my friends that was on the team when i was and b) the girls team coach who was always super nice (she was one of my teachers too)

fast forward about 3 or 4 years after graduating college, and im visiting back home (i was living in Montana at this time), and it just so happens my high school is competing at a meet near my hotel. i have some free time so i go to check it out.

but coach was always kind of a shit, which i get looking back. in his eyes i was lazy and a bad runner, so i think it's fair he viewed me critically. i still liked and respected him.

i liked all the people on the team and camraderie, but ran as little as possible cause it hurt so bad and rarely ran meets. even when i tried to quit i came back cause i missed the team so much and everyone was super chill and welcoming.
