I live with my darling wife in central Massachusetts, kids are all grown up, still playing some guitar and doing some coding. Love dancing with my friends on Zoom and trying not to freak out about politics. UU.
Morning routine: eat cereal, open @nytimes.com. If I manage to tap Games before a headline catches my eye, all good. If not, finish cereal and then go lay down in a dark room.

I live about an hour away, I feel like I should be holding a sign in Harvard Square or something… #Harvard

Going to Boston on Saturday, what should I put on my sign?

That’s a team, right?

When sticking things together, you can use wet paste.
But if you’re out, I have no doubt
That you could use pet waste.

So, is #HandsOff on #April5 the protest not to miss? Who’s going? DC? Boston? Worcester? Where are you going? I can’t just sit around anymore!

Do you, like me, write code for a living? How long do you think that’s going to be a thing? I’ve heard a year or two and I think that’s probably true. So… what next?

I put my heart in a can
and I sent it to you
when you opened it up
well I guess it was true
that it wasn’t that fresh
it wasn’t that tender
and though it isn’t the heart
of a fearless defender
what could I do
it’s the way you would take it
so throw it on ice
and try not to break it

If turkeys had their own olympic, it would include flying, and it would be much like olympic swimming for humans.

I’m giving blanket permission, there’s no need to dress up for my funeral. (but I feel fine at the moment)

Donald Trump is, and will always be, a joke. It’s blindingly obvious that he is a narcissistic man-child who needs constant validation. You can absolutely take him seriously as a threat, but no matter how bad it gets, never take him seriously as a human being. He doesn’t deserve it.

When you don’t know what time it is, it’s usually best to answer “the afternoon”.

Indeed @nytimes.com, on one side is outrage, and on the other is Mayor Amer Ghalib of Hamtramck, Mich. What a scoop.

“Gaza is not a place for people to be living.” Good lord. 2 million people. Yeah, sorry about your home, but you should really leave, it’s just not safe here.

I know a lot of people are still waiting to see if there’s anything substantial about all this AI stuff.

As a software developer, it has changed my job dramatically. It seems abundantly clear that it will affect nearly everyone, eventually.

What are your favorite examples of engineers thinking that their expertise can “fix everything” in some matter outside their domain, only to fail miserably? (And get ready to add one.)

Has anyone else noticed GPT seems to have developed a bit of an attitude lately?

“That’s such an odd oversight! You’d think they’d consider something as basic as a light by the charging port… It’s like they forgot people don’t live in well-lit showrooms all the time.”

I think this is actually worse than I’d expected. It seems insanely bad. Is it me?

This water bottle is like “look at how splashy and cool this water is” but the actual water is RIGHT THERE and it’s just sitting there.

(Yes, I do try not to buy bottled water, this snuck in somehow.)

Do you have a service you would recommend that would take a pile of old laptops and hard drives and figure out how to get them running well enough to get media off of them?
