The novels had more of a shared continuity, especially the Blofeld Trilogy and “The Man With the Golden Gun”.

They had shared actors, but no strict shared continuity until the Daniel Craig films. Quantum of Solace was a direct sequel to Casino Royale, and it was the first direct sequel in the entire series.

I was referring to the novel, the movie is closer to the game “Smash TV”. It’s quite different from the novel though the new movie is going to be much closer to the source material.
