The first one made me think of "In two straight lines they broke their bread, and brushed their teeth and went to bed. They left the house at half past nine. In two straight lines in rain or shine". The second made me sad.

Option 2: Do away with linguistic conventions and remove anything following "is".

True. Go back about 50 years and they're already using words/terms I don't recognise. Noticed in people of a certain age in conversation
