He was mediocre today. Not awful, and unlucky not to have an assist. I think the team selection is barely relevant as a talking point; it’s the system that we should be worried about. Slot has tried switching up the team in terms of personnel but it doesn’t seem to make a difference.

While this has been awful, I’m worried about finding a replacement. Sacking him mid season could cause us to spiral further. There aren’t any managers that seem like a good fit right now.

You don’t have to be a data nerd to see that he underperformed his xG by nearly 7. About the same difference as Nuñez last 3 seasons combined.

I guess he can also do a shift in central midfield, on either wing, or maybe if Slot is feeling crazy as striker. Maybe some competition will make him improve.

I’m not reacting to his performance today, just the hints that he may be leaving and my opinion of him as a player
